HAIR REMOVAL
Clients may experience a heating of the area being treated but it should not be 'painful'.
Most areas require minimum of six to eight treatments depending on various factors such as hair thickness, the area treated, and your hair growth cycle. Not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, but go through three distinct phases which are growth, regression and resting.
IPL works by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments will be necessary to disable all the hair follicles in a given area, so intervals between treatments are four to six weekly.
Immediately following treatment the area may appear a bit red or swollen. Approximately seven to 12 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re growth of hair, actually most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are in fact falling out.
Between treatments do not wax or pluck, but you may shave. As IPL does make your skin Photo Sensitive it is important to stay out of the sun during your entire treatment process and use an SPF 30+ sunscreen on the treatment area whilst in the sunshine. Best to avoid the sun if possible.
TREATMENT FOR PIGMENTATION (Sun and Age Spots)
IPL is very effective for pigmentation and most (not all) types of pigmentation can be removed effectively with just one to three treatments depending on severity.
You may feel a mild pinching/stinging sensation but there is no need for topical anaesthetic or pain control. A cooling gel may be applied to the area after treatment.
The IPL light procedure is selectively absorbed by the pigmented spots on your skin. Very shortly after treatment the spots will darken. Over the course of the next few weeks the darkened spots will fade and slough off. Do not pick the area or use abrasive creams.
SPF 30+ sunscreen must be used when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots.
IPL/RF SKIN REJUVENATION
IPL and Radio Frequency combined work very well for skin rejuvenation.
You may feel a mild stinging sensation but you will not require pain control.
This procedure is great at reducing diffuse redness which is the general appearance of facial redness often associated with Rosacea.
By gently heating the upper dermis, well below your skins surface IPL stimulates Collagen and Elastin regrowth, therefore discretely and effectively treating fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture, diffused redness, acne and some scarring.
You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, restoring the skins youthful glow and appearance caused by ageing and sun damage.
It is important to use an SPF 30+ sunscreen when in the sunshine as this procedure will make the skin Photo Sensitive.
Recommended treatments are one each month for four to six treatments.
VEIN / BROKEN CAPILLARY REMOVAL - IPL Technology (please also see Red Vein Thermocoagulation page for other treatment options for red veins/capillaries. Depending on your skin condition, one or both treatment options may be appropriate)
Clients of most skin colours can have IPL vein / capillary removal. It treats a broad range of vessels quickly and effectively, particularly spider veins and broken capillaries (telangiectasia).
Clients may feel a pinching/stinging sensation but do not need anaesthetic as the hand piece is cooling. The IPL delivers pulses of light energy which cause blood within the blood vessel to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later re-absorbed by your body and blood flow will be redirected.
Healing takes place below the skin surface. A slight reddening and local swelling of the skin may appear but this will subside within 24 hours.
It is recommended not to take hot baths or showers, sauna, gym activities or running for 12 hours after treatment to avoid blood being pumped through the vessel. Mild activity is fine.
Veins will show significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment, however final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time if you are prone to facial blood vessels it is possible for new blood vessels to appear usually from extreme weather conditions such as going from hot to cold and sun damage. Therefore it is recommended to use SPF 30+ sunscreen if in the sunshine.
